What is so rare as a
Day in June
Hello!

I wish we had 3 months of June. What a fabulous month. Green grass, young plants to watch grow, not too hot weather, fresh Home Grown Strawberries. Can still harvest Rhubarb. Baby chicks are getting their feathers. Baby kittens are growing. Potato Plants are blooming, Radishes, Lettuce and Scallions to be harvested.

There is time to plant a Vegetable Garden or Potatoes. The soil is warm and things grow a lot better when it’s warm. Your soil should crumble when you plant. Dig a shovel full of soil and take a handful in your hand. If it makes a ball it’s too wet. If you squeeze it and it falls apart, it’s ready to work up.

If you do a raised bed, buy good potting soil. The soil from Big Box stores can be a challenge. You need to dump your tubs or pots. In a raised bed take out 1/2 and add new. Also add compost. Make sure your containers drain.

If you plant carrots and they didn’t come up, you planted too deep. I make a dent in the soil, not a 1/2 inch deep row. You can use your hoe handle for the dent in the soil. Then take a handful of soil to cover lightly, then pat the soil.

I also tell you about Cilantro. Never buy a plant, it dies. You need seed. Plant in a pot. Every 1 1/2 to 2 weeks apart for continuous product all season. The Garden Centers do not tell you that. If you make rows, plant short ones. I have the seed. If you follow me on Instagram, I did a video of this recently. Here’s the link: https://www.instagram.com/p/CAfjF4ogsPy/

Love my Instagram. Can’t believe social media. I have 300 people following me, love to teach.
