At The Farm

April Showers
Bring May Flowers

Hello!

It’s April Fools Day and no one to spring a joke on. It will get better. Guess we are all learning new things.

I finally finished ordering all my seeds. Heavens, the very end of this gets really challenging. It’s hard not to over buy. Everything looks so great this time of year.

The greenhouse is up and working. Peppers, eggplant, herbs are started. Tomatoes next week.

The chicken pellets fertilizer is a lot to master mind. I need to find a spreader when it’s time to put it on the field. There is a fertilizer company in Cologne where we can rent that. The pellets come from an organic egg farm in Winthrop. They are all heated and dried. We put it on the fields and then till it in. What I need to learn to be a great farmer. Love what I do.

The Rhubarb is up. That always makes me happy. I have a lot of plants.

The egg business is crazy. I take them to Mackenthun’s Meat Market in St. Bonifacious. I do not have the chickens here. I have a lady who has them and she brings eggs three times a week. I do not go in the store. I call when I leave the Farm. When I get to St. Boni, I call them and they come to my car and get them.

Molly (my cat) and Hennretta (my hen) are fine. Soon I will let them out of the hen house. They spent the winter in.

I got my Gator out on Friday. Oh it was a fix. I couldn’t go all over my fields as it was too wet in the low land on my Farm. But I could drive the rest, that also is a gift.

Did you hear the thunder and see the lightening last Saturday night? An old saying is…From the first thunder in the spring, count 6 months to the first frost in the Fall. Also the rain brings the frost out of the ground. And one more thing, the Ground Hog didn’t see his shadow, so we will have an early spring. That’s all I know about those sayings.

I keep calling people to ask if they are ok. People call me also. I love to visit.

I called Mark at The Noble Lion, they do take outs. The White Birch House lady also will meet you at her door. I heard Ruby’s Roost has take outs, these are all in Victoria.

I had a shock of my life. I get a printout of people who sign up for my newsletter and also who deletes the letter. I opened the report and I got one new sign up and 12 deletes (unsubscribes). I almost fell off my chair. The last letter I said my political view. I didn’t realize how people reacted. It’s always fun to learn whoever said we shouldn’t talk about religion or politics. I have 600 people on my Newsletter list. Watch my letters when I will open.

That’s all I know for today.
