Merry Christmas – Sugar Cookie Recipe
Hello! I’m happy to share this December Newsletter with you from At The Farm
Time is flying
Christmas soon will be here
No I’m not crying
It’s the Reason for the Season so Cheer
Hello What a great fall we had, except for the early October snow.
I have my house all pretty and bright, but no company. I need to decorate for me. As I have said before, it’s like an old friend to see all the treasures.
I have found an old Sugar Cookie Recipe from my friend I went to church with in Minnetonka.
I will share it. She was the very best Cookie Baker. Cookie Baking was never my number one thing, but I work on it.
The reason for butter not soft, the cookies do not stay great shape, they go all over in the pan when too soft.
Sugar Cookie
|
3 Cups All Purpose Flour
1 tsp Cream of Tartar
1 tsp Soda (Arm and Hammer)
1/2 tsp Salt
1 Cup Butter
2 Eggs beaten
1 Cup Sugar (C & H) Cane
1 tsp Cream
Butter – room temperature (not soft)
Beat Butter
Add Sugar, then beaten eggs
Sift flour with Salt, Cream of Tartar and Soda
Here comes the challenge…
When adding the flour, I do about 3/4 cup at a time. My mixer can’t handle all at once. But after the first 3/4 cup, I use a wooden spoon to stir the rest of the flour. I have to use my hands to combine it into a ball. I get 60 cookies from this, I use a jar lid for the round cookie.
Roll very thin, I get 5 or 6 clumps of dough to roll. (Do not roll the whole batch).
Place on cookie sheet, put white sugar or colored on each cookie.
Do not grease the cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 7-8 minutes.
Do not brown them, leave them white.
Put on a cooling rack. It’s the very best Sugar Cookie you ever had!

I hope to open my Coffee Shack in 2021. If we all get the vaccine. Yes, I will get it. I need to get off the Farm. I found a great recipe for popovers, I’m excited to do this.
Have a Merry Christmas,
Donna
