March 26 Newsletter
Hello!
I just love to write. What a gift I enjoy to write these letters. My English teacher must be turning over in her grave. This was not my strong suit. I didn’t have many goals when I was in school, I now have a lot.
The furnace is started in the Greenhouse. Brenda is planting Peppers, Eggplant and Herbs.
I love the aroma of the wet soil. Remember, it’s not dirt, that’s under the bed.
It seems like an early Spring. I looked yesterday to check on the Rhubarb but it’s not up yet.
If you planted garlic, be sure to take the mulch off. It’s up. We didn’t get any in the fields. It was too wet and besides, no one is interested in organic garlic to buy. I sell USA garlic anyway. A lot of garlic comes from China. I would not sell that, I know Aldi’s sells that.
I like this down time in my life to call people that I have not visited with in forever. So great to reconnect. I love people anyway.
I have had 2 people call me to ask if I am ok. I have called 35 so far to check on them, but I love to visit. I do write some letters but not that many.
Church is on the web, that’s new. We get a sermon, excellent.
Gotta tell you I have groceries delivered. I’m a Kowalski Shopper in Excelsior. I called there on Monday to ask a cashier who lives by Boni. She was not coming home but said they have a lady who lives in Norwood and she could bring them. How great. I have 2 people who called to ask if I needed anything, nice. I got a delivery of cat food and bird seed from UFC in Waconia.
I don’t want my elves to go into the store for me and pick up this mess. I take eggs to Boni but I call them when I get to the store and they come to the car and get them. It’s interesting how we can make do.
I have a crazy thing to tell you. I’m thinking of using a charge card at my Barn. One of my elves said, “Did hell freeze over?” (Love that!) I really didn’t want to do this but I think this year when people would be able to buy plants, food, etc. (maybe treasures) at my Farm. I can change but that’s hard. I ran this buy my elves and they all said yes. That’s really re-inventing myself.
Don’t know yet when I will open. I cancelled my summer events, Downtown Abby Tea, Garden Tour and Barn Quilt Tour. Don’t forget to sign up for the CSA, it comes on Tuesdays. It’s in the side of my Barn in a room. You do not have to come in my Barn. The gate is open until 6pm. If you can’t get here by that time, just park in the driveway and walk in to pick up your box. It’s excellent food.
I hope to have eggs this summer. There are more chickens to have more eggs. They are really selling now as the grocery stores don’t have a lot.
I’m out of words,
Donna
