The long winter is over
Seeds can go in the ground
Soon flowers on the clover
Listen for all the spring sweet sounds

Hello!
The Rhubarb and Garlic are growing, so great to see that sprout up. The perennials also have woke up.

The month of April was a wash. Too cold to do anything in the Barn.

Things in the green houses are fabulous. Tomatoes, Peppers Lettuce, Herbs, Eggplant, Kale and Romaine. When the fields dry up things can be planted.

Remember, don’t get into your gardens too soon. The soil should crumble in your hand before you work the soil and plant. Too soon and you will pay the fiddler all season.

Cold crops can be planted – Onions, Potatoes, Peas, Kale Lettuce, Romaine and Beets.

Warm crops by the end or middle of May. Put your hand in the soil, if it’s warm, you can plant. Too cold and seeds can rot and not come up. Tomatoes and Peppers for sure to wait.

For the Garden Tour there are a few empty seats left for August 9th, call 952-442-4816. Janet Fahey is working on another Garden Tour for August 16th. That one is at Sovereign Estates Winery in Waconia. Call Janet at 612-382-4512 for information or visit BarnQuiltsofCarverCountyMN.com.

Wednesday early morning the lights went out. I grew up without electric lights. Now I’ve gotten used to them. Good thing it wasn’t the snow storm day. Also in the storm my green houses didn’t break. I’ve been there before, they were just fine.

It’s a very Happy Birthday to my friends in Victoria as their businesses are 1 year old in May.
